Abstract

The objective of this work was to demonstrate the factorial structure of the perception of security with the purpose of providing theoretical and empirical evidence to the model developed by Garcia (2011) in which the linear relationships between five dimensions related to territorial security were explored, national, public, citizen and private. A nonexperimental, transversal and psychometric study was carried out with a non probabilistic selection of 245 students assigned to penitentiary institutions as part of their academic, professional and work practices and services. The prevalence was observed as a factor of second order with respect to five factors of the first order and 18 indicators that explained 37% of the varianza, but the design of the research limited the findings to the study scenario, suggesting its extension to other contexts.
