Abstract

The aim was to identify the relation between the pros and cons of alcohol consumption with alcohol consumption in adolescents. The sample was 448 adolescents. A Personal Data and Prevalence of Consumption Scale and the Alcohol Decisional Balance Scale were administered; the mean of the pros of alcohol consumption was 19.01 (SD = 19.03) and cons of alcohol consumption was 78. 52 (SD = 25.09). A significant correlation was found between the pros of alcohol consumption with the amount of drinks consumed in the last month (rs= 0.154, p < .01) and the amount of drinks consumed in the last 7 days (rs= 0.154, p < .01). The findings can be used to design preventive interventions for alcohol consumption in adolescents.
