Attitudes and intentions of marijuana use in southern Mexico

Abstract

The present descriptive-correlational type research has the objective of knowing therelationship and effect that the attitudes and intentions show in the consumption of marijuana in young university students from southern Mexico. The sample is made up of 465 young people selected at random. The instruments applied are the consumption inquiry and intentions for the consumption of marijuana and the instrument Attitudes for the Consumption of Marijuana (Olivera & Carrero, 2007), later the data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The 60.8% of young people who have used marijuana report having intentions to use again, positive attitudes were also identified for marijuana use in relaxation and creativity. There is a positive and significant relationship between positive attitudes and intentions for marijuana use. Attitudes and intentions has a positive effect on marijuana use.
