Factors associated with drug use before to sexual encounters and dating sites in men who have sex with men
Abstract
The objective of the study was to determine the influence of biological (age), sociocultural (scholarship and income) and psychological (sexual identity, sexual sensations seeking and internalized homophobia) factors in alcohol consumption, drugs after sexual encounters and places to meet couples. The population was made up of 241 MSM over 18 years of age, residents of Monterrey, Nuevo León. Respondent-driven sampling was used. MSM who have internalized homophobia and are sexual sensations seeking have been shown to consume alcohol more frequently prior to the sexual encounter. It was also shown that the MSM in this study who are mostly looking for sexual sensations use drugs more frequently before the sexual encounter. Likewise, it was found that MSM sexual sensations seeking more frequently attend dating sites. It is suggested to generate or adapt MSM interventions focused on harm reduction, such as the consumption of licit and illicit substances.
