Alcohol consumption by student nurses and knowledge about the care of the alcohol-using patient
Abstract
Descriptive-cross-sectional research, the objective was to determine prevalence alcohol consumption and knowledge of alcohol patient care in nursing students at the Autonomous University of Nayarit. The sample was composed of 129 students, using a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience and voluntary participation. The instruments applied are the Cédula de Datos Personales y de Consumo de Alcohol (CDPCA), Cuestionario de Identificación de Trastornos debido al Consumo de Alcohol (AUDIT, 1992), Escala de Formación de Enfermería en Educación de Alcohol (NEADA, 1985). The analysis and processing of the data was descriptive statistics. The results show that the alcohol consumption was 85.3% have ever consumed in their lives, 96% in the last year, 66% in the last month and 40% in the last seven days. The level of knowledge about the alcohol consuming patient was high at 52.71%.
