Abstract

The present cross-comparative research has the objective of contrasting the levels of illness behaviour in Mexican oncological and non-oncological hematological patients and identifying differences according to other sociodemographic variables. The sample is made up of 247 patients belonging to the Hematology Service of a hospital in Mexico City, selected by intentional non-probability sampling. The instrument applied is the “Behavioural Responses to Illness Questionnaire (BRIQ)” by Spence, Moss-Morris and Chalder (2005), validated for Mexican hematological patients. The descriptive and inferential statistical analysis shows significant differences between cancer patients, with longer illness and unemployed, so it is concluded that the assessment and multi interdisciplinary intervention aimed at adapting these groups of patients to their condition it’s a priority for the behavior specialist
