Abstract

Depression and resilience are psychological variables that play an important role in the relationship that students have with their academic and personal activities. Despite their importance, there are very few studies that seek to identify the correlation between them. The objective of this study is to explore the correlation between depressive symptomatology and resilience in university students from the La Serena-Coquimbo conurbation, Chile. The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and the Resilience Scale 14 items (RS-14) were applied to 135 students aged between 18 and 51 years. The results indicated that there is a negative correlation of mean strength between the factors of the resilience variable and depressive symptomatology, there is a pattern or tendency for students who have low depressive symptomatology to present high levels of resilience.
