Abstract

Introduction: Risk eating behaviors (CAR) is one of the main issues of attention in the adolescent population by virtue of the fact that at this stage behavioral models are observed and acquired from the group of friends, excluding the configuration of the eating pattern acquired during childhood by the family. Objetive: To determine the eating behaviors of risk to health carried out by adolescents of upper secondary school level of rural area in Morelia, Michoacan; Mexico. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study involved 46 female and male adolescents aged 13 to 15 years from a secondary school in rural areas. The information was retrieved from the instrument called eating behaviors at risk of malnutrition due to excess (CARME) prepared by Carrasco Marin, Pérez Villalobos, and Cruzat Mandich in 2020. It is made up of four factors: response to food, uncontrolled eating, consumption of highly caloric foods and emotional eating. The analysis was carried out through descriptive statistical analysis in SPSS program, version 22 and it was necessary to integrate the qualitative analysis because it was a method that allowed to understand the meanings when observing, listening and understanding the behaviors of adolescents around food which was carried out from structured interviews to a focus group of 12 adolescents selected with snowball sampling to identify the specific behaviors of lack of food consumption this, once the quantitative data were obtained. Results: There is a contrast of predisposing variables for the development of diseases in adolescents, highlighting the risk behaviors for caloric excess in men and the risk behaviors of excess due to caloric and nutritional deficiency in women. Conclusions: The qualitative information evidenced the popularity among adolescents of carrying out “effective, discreet, economical and imperceptible to people” diets such as the “Sleeping Beauty or Pillow Die” which was generated during the confinement stage derived from Covid 19.
