Model for the use of contraceptives in perinatal adolescents
Abstract
Introduction: Subsequent pregnancy in adolescence represents a public health problem that involves several determinants, the development of theoretical-connections empirical are necessary to understand the phenomenon from different contextual approaches and contribute to its solution Objective: present a theoretical sub-structure that allows to guide the behavior change of pregnant adolescents towards the use of contraceptives in the immediate postpartum and clinical context. Methodology: The proposal of Dulock and Holzemer (1991) was used, a process to link theory to method; the main variables were identified, after analyzing them they were connected with the theoretical basis. Results: The Model for the Use of Contraceptives in Perinatal Adolescents was developed to explain how the behavior change of adolescents towards the use of contraceptives develops Conclusions: The connection of the theoretical basis with the operational aspects of this model allows us to visualize the transition of adolescent girls through the stages of change to the use of contraceptives in the immediate postpartum period.
