Consumption of alcohol in adolescents: a gender analysis

Abstract

Introduction: Drug use among adolescents is a complex problem and the proportion of adolescents that drugs consume progressively increases. Objective: The objective was to describe the consumption of alcohol of adolescents from a gender analysis. Method: Quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational study, 365 adolescents from an institution of public average public from Guanajuato who agreed to participate voluntarily. A general diets and the identification questionnaire for alcohol use disorders was used. Results: The results showed that 51% correspond to the female gender. The difference in alcohol consumption score between the male genre (11.52) and female (9.52) was statistically significant (U = 14376.0, p <.05). The results allow you to know the consumption of alcohol in adolescents where drinking tends to be perceived as a male behavior. Conclusions: These results give bases to propose prevention activities aimed at responsible alcohol consumption in the adolescent group.
