Personality traits and psychological inflexibility in alcohol addicts
Abstract
Introduction-Objective: The research aims to analyze the relationship between personality traits and psychological inflexibility with alcohol addiction. Method: The Big Five Inventory, the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II and the Questionnaire for the Identification of Alcohol Disorders (AUDIT) were administered in a sample of 170 people, all men being distributed in two matched groups: 85 people attend regularly Alcoholics Anonymous and 85 non-alcoholic people. Results: The results indicate that there are significant differences in both groups; Alcoholic subjects have greater psychological inflexibility, greater
neuroticism and less awareness compared to the non-alcoholic group. Conclusion: The data also suggests that inflexibility is related to Neuroticism, Affability and Consciousness, which means that inflexibility is largely associated with the personality traits of each individual.
