Risk experiences in drug users
Abstract
Introduction: Risk behaviors are experiences that appear easier in environments where drug consumption is present. Objective: understanding the lived experiences for risk behaviors in adolescents that consume illicit drugs. Method: Phenomenological qualitative Phenomenological interviews were conducted in 10 adolescent participants from a Youth Integration Center of Mexico. The phenomenological analysis was performed under the referential of the situated phenomenon of J. Martins. Results: 3 categories were revealed; 1 Historicity and the development of the risk behavior; existential situations that develop risk behaviors. 2 Experience and corporality; duality, between corporality and factual life with drug consumption. 3 The detachment of the being, showing a being without social limits. Conclusions: Drug consumption is a risk behavior that damages the adolescent’s psychological, physical and emotional health, attenuating their full, healthy and harmonious development; it’s a problem that demands comprehensive and multidisciplinary care.
