Loneliness in the older adult: Concept analysis
Abstract
Introduction: Loneliness is a condition that individuals have contact with at some stage of life, in the older adult this experience of loneliness is not rewarding, it is necessary to delve into this issue in today's society due to the negative repercussions that it can cause this age group. Objective: To explore the concept of loneliness in older adults based on the analysis of the scientific literature available to establish its essential attributes. Method: Concept analysis described by Walker and Avant. Results: Loneliness in the older adult usually occurs involuntarily, causes feelings of distress, as it is an unrewarding condition, which can affect the emotional area, affect the health, well-being and quality of life of the older adult. Conclusions: The results clarify the meaning of the concept "loneliness in the older adult" to develop and implement intervention strategies that guide nursing care.
