Abstract

Cultural consensus dictates mediation behaviors and attitudes among human groups that influence them in the appropriation of technology. In a little town of the state of Nayarit, México, five members of a milk producers family were part of a research to know what herbology meant in their workplace practices and what they considered a “good producer”.
Results showed that producers devaluate the use of herbology, as they only consider it to treat minor sickness in the cattle. Health aspects, care production as well as management and organization are the main aspects of being a “good milk producer”. However the use of drugs and chemicals is prioritized, even though their higher cost, representing a big risk in products of human consumption. It is necessary to encourage research regarding sustainable alternatives. Also follow sensitization programs among milk producers, respecting their beliefs and cultural consensus to change their attitude towards appropriating new technologies.
